Record Muskie Attracts Media Attention
You may have seen this photo in the Star Tribune recently of a record 57 inch muskie caught on Lake Mille Lacs. Robert Hawkins landed the gigantic fish on a fly rod while casting into about 10 feet of water. The sport of seeking most species is called fishing. Muskie lovers refer to their passion as Mmskie hunting because of the size of their prey and the enormous patience it takes to be successful. We don't know for sure if the fish Robert caught is a world record because the rules would require the fish to be killed and weighed on shore. This fish was landed, measured and then quickly returned to the water. The news of this catch has been publicized all over the country by now and is very big news for muskie hunters.
The other big fishing news is that Mille Lacs will host the 2016 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship from September 15 to 18, 2016. We will have more information as the tournament dates approach. For more information about all of the great attractions and activities on Lake Mille Lacs visit www.millelacs.com.
