It is Ice Skating Season in Minnesota!
Metro Ice Skating Update
The indoor rink at the Depot in downtown Minneapolis is now open! It's fun, it's romantic, and warm in the winter. Named one of the top places in North America to ice skate by Today.com, Fodor's Travel, USA Today and MSNBC, The Depot Rink is an historic downtown Minneapolis train shed that now houses a modern-day, indoor skating rink with floor-to-ceiling glass walls providing a great view of the city skyline. As of December 30th, the Minneapolis Parks Department rinks are still closed but that will change soon. For current ice conditions check: https://www.minneapolisparks.org/activities__events/winter_activities/ice_rinks/
Saint Paul has some of their 14 rinks open for skating and more will open as the weather permits. As of December 30th, the Wells Fargo Plaza rink near Rice Park is open as are a few neighborhood sites. Some local indoor ice centers offer recreational open skating time during the holiday school vacations. Check with you local facility for their hours and programs. With the forecast for the next week predicting seasonal temperatures, ice conditions will improve. Be careful on lakes and ponds!
